Try as they might, few can capture the public speaking charisma of Barack and Michelle Obama.
In the Daily Show monologue above, host Jordan Klepper alternates between mildly awkward DNC clips of people like Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer dancing and clips of the former president and first lady firing up the crowd with zingers.
"When you see these two up on stage it's very clear that for all the talk Democrats have about not looking back, they sure love to live in 2008 — and frankly, who can blame them?" asks Klepper, before playing a clip of Barack making a cutting joke about Trump and his "weird obsession with crowd sizes."
"Oh, I see what he did there," says Klepper. "Yeah, that's brutal. That's the second time this summer the secret service has failed to protect Trump from a lethal attack."
